Our HTC Sensation Review

A hot new smartphone on the scene is the HTC Sensation. It is the world’s first 4.3 inch smartphone with qHD resolution. Plus, the HTC Sensation is the platform introducing WATCH, the movie streaming service, and Sense 3.0.

Hardware

The first thing you will notice about the amazing new HTC Sensation is that it feels small. Smartphones are usually known for their large size, but the Sensation seems to go beyond size and offer what you need in a smaller device.

What will you find when you look at the phone? The volume control is a good size and located on the left side of the device. Below the volume control is a micro USB port. At the bottom of the phone is a microphone and a slip to help open the phone’s back. The right side of the phone is bare. The top of the phone features headphone jacks and power and lock buttons. On the back of the smartphone is a 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, plus a dual LED flash.

The battery life of the device is determined by how much you it and what you use it for. Recording video appears at first glance to use the most battery capacity. A game of Angry Birds uses the same amount of battery life as cruising the web – neither one significantly delete battery power.

Display

The HTC Sensation shines with a 960 by 540 screen resolution. This is a thirty five percent gain of pixels over its closest competitors. It uses a Super LCD screen. With the qHD you will get more across the board – more mail shows up on your browser, more content from your favorite sites show up in the browser. You will see more on your calendar. You will see more contacts. Video also improves with qHD. The black bars that annoy us with so many devices are now gone. You can watch downloaded content and recorded content at full-screen.

Software

The HTC Sensation is dependent on the upgraded Sense 3.0. First, you will find that the lock screen is overhauled and now easier than ever to use. There are four shortcuts. Navigation between home screens is easy. Android’s Gingerbread combines well with Sense 3.0. You will get preinstalled apps with the device including HTC’s dock Mode, Facebook, Flashlight, and more.

What We Like

One of the biggest selling features of the HTC Sensation is its unique size in the smartphone field. We like the size. The fact that qHD still allowed us to have excellent viewing space on the screen. The 1.2 GHz dual core processor gives you the power you need. We like the curved 4.3 inch screen. Plus, we are big fans of Android’s Gingerbread combined with Sense 3.0.

What We Disliked

With such a great device it hurts to see the drawbacks. However, no smartphone can be perfect. The video support for the phone is not up to speed for phones in this class. Battery life could be improved.

The Final Verdict

A great introduction into the smartphone field. The HTC Sensation is perfect for anyone looking for great screen resolution and a convenient size. Need a good smartphone plus camera? This is the choice for you. We suggest this phone for just about anyone looking to avoid bulky, overloaded smartphones.
